Courvoisier is proud to diligently nurture aromas throughout all stages of its cognac development. Among the three aromas that flavor this cognac are crème brûlée, iris flower and candied orange. The iris flower aroma is derived from the top cognacs in the Courvoisier selection and is heightened through a lengthy maturation process in a hot, humid, storage environment near the Charente River. The crème brûlée comes from the toasted casks in which the cognac is stored. These emit the smell of toasted bread. As the oak sugars caramelize, this lends a rich, dessert taste to the cognac. Finally, there are the delicate notes of candied orange that come from the fine-grained oak in which the cognac is aged.
