Through the use of differently-aged rums, Atlantico Reserva blends the heavier styles that are molasses-based with the lighter ones that are infused with a more citrus-oriented appeal. Each of these rums is aged separately from two to three years before then being merged together for another two years. The solera aging system then takes over for as long as 15 years, which means that the oldest barrels are stacked at the bottom and youngest on top. Those older barrels will only see a small portion of the end product used, with portions from each of the higher levels replacing the rum drawn from the barrel directly below it. This innovative process has each bottle carefully inspected before shipping. What an individual will find will be vanilla and citrus flavors emanating in the aroma, with the vanilla following through the taste, making for a long, smooth and satisfying drink to behold.
